The Weddington, NC, native replaces Robert Woodard who joined the UNC Wilmington staff as the pitching coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so fortunate that Coach Fox gave me the opportunity to come back to UNC and coach baseball,\u201d Gaines said. \u201cI feel as if I have a lot of valuable experiences and knowledge that will help our players in a number of different ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During his career at Carolina, Gaines posted a 5-0 record in 35 career appearances for the Tar Heels.
