{"id":65,"date":"2010-07-13T07:40:00","date_gmt":"2010-07-13T14:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/capitalsports.us\/?p=65"},"modified":"2011-01-15T15:11:15","modified_gmt":"2011-01-15T20:11:15","slug":"former-duke-baseball-coach-darmi-dies-at-age-75","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/capitalsportsnc.com\/?p=65","title":{"rendered":"Former Duke baseball coach D&#8217;Armi dies at age 75"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/image.cdnl3.xosnetwork.com\/pics31\/400\/QS\/QSPELWQRDWLMLLL.20100713174819.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;\" src=\"http:\/\/image.cdnl3.xosnetwork.com\/pics31\/400\/QS\/QSPELWQRDWLMLLL.20100713174819.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>DUKE ATHLETICS NEWS RELEASE &#8211; Tom D\u2019Armi, a fixture around Duke University athletics for nearly three decades, died Saturday in Wilson, N.C., at the age of 75.<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019Armi coached the Blue Devils\u2019 baseball program for seven seasons and also served as the director of athletic facilities and game management for all of the school\u2019s sports \u2014 totaling 28 years of service to the university when he retired in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>As a coach, D\u2019Armi guided Duke baseball to 125 wins and five consecutive winning seasons during his seven-year tenure from 1978-84. He coached eight All-ACC selections and seven Major League Baseball draft picks during that time.<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019Armi\u2019s family has asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Tom D\u2019Armi Scholarship Fund, c\/o Mary Dinkins, Duke Athletics, Box 90542, Durham, NC 27708.<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019Armi was predeceased by his wife Jane D\u2019Armi and is survived by his son Mickey D\u2019Armi.
