Twelve members of the National League (NL) roster have played for Team USA and 13 of the American League (AL) All-Stars have suited up for the red, white and blue.<\/p>\n<p>USA Baseball, based in Cary, is the national governing body for the sport of baseball in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Three alumni will start the game in the field for both the AL and NL All-Star teams. Nolan Arenado (Colorado Rockies), Freddie Freeman (Atlanta Braves) and Christian Yelich (Milwaukee Brewers), pictured above, will start for the NL, while Alex Bregman (Houston Astros), George Springer (Houston Astros) and Mike Trout (Los Angeles Angels) earned starting spots for the AL. <\/p>\n<p>Of the 25 alumni, 13 have won gold medals with Team USA and eight have represented the stars and stripes on multiple USA Baseball national teams. Bregman leads the way in both categories with appearances on five separate national teams and has won four gold medals.<\/p>\n<p>In total, 13 alumni competed with the Collegiate National Team, seven suited up for the 18U National Team, four participated with the former 16U National Team, four represented the U.S. on the Professional National Team at a Pan-American Games or World Cup, and four played for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic (WBC).<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 MLB All-Star Game will be played at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio on Tuesday, July 9, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
