{"id":8194,"date":"2015-05-02T22:19:12","date_gmt":"2015-05-03T02:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/capitalsportsnc.com\/?p=8194"},"modified":"2015-05-02T22:21:50","modified_gmt":"2015-05-03T02:21:50","slug":"skins-get-a-character-guy-in-crowder-who-will-make-impact-in-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/capitalsportsnc.com\/?p=8194","title":{"rendered":"Skins get a character guy in Crowder who will make impact this year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_8195\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8195\" style=\"width: 192px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/capitalsportsnc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/crowderduke.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/capitalsportsnc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/crowderduke.jpg\" alt=\"Jamison Crowder.\" width=\"192\" height=\"200\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8195\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8195\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jamison Crowder.<\/figcaption><\/figure>Duke&#8217;s Jamison Crowder is planning on being a wide receiver in the NFL but he&#8217;ll make an immediate impact returning punts, and possibly kickoffs, for the Washington Redskins in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Redskins chose the ACC&#8217;s all-time receiving leader with the sixth pick of the fourth round, 105th overall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want an opportunity to get in the league, and I wouldn\u2019t want to play for no better team than the Redskins,\u201d Crowder said during a teleconference with reporters. \u201cI\u2019m excited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crowder, at just 5-foot-8 185-pounds, caught 283 passes for 3,641 yards and 23 touchdowns in his career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like I\u2019m one of the top receivers in this draft,\u201d the Monroe native said. \u201cI can go in and make an impact in the offense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Redskins&#8217; coach Jay Gruden sees Crowder as more of a force on special teams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe liked his big play ability,\u201d Gruden said. \u201cHe can return punts, obviously. He\u2019s going to be instant playmaker for us. That\u2019s going to be a good one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Redskins haven&#8217;t returned a punt for a touchdown since the 2008 season.
