Talk about disrespect, one outlet picks Heels but barely
North Carolina admittedly had an embarrassing season-opening loss to TCU but this week’s opponent, the Charlotte 49ers, also had an embarrassing loss, 34-11 to Appalachian State. Yet, Fox Sports has Carolina barely squeaking by Charlotte.
TCU, even though they were favored, felt disrespected in the matchup at UNC. Sorry, but the big story wasn’t how good TCU was going to be this year but the story was Bill Belichick coaching his first college game. That’s just the way it is – not disrespect to TCU, which has the QB and the returning talent to be a top 25 team. Quick thoughts on UNC’s loss to TCU
10 quick thoughts on the UNC loss tonight:
1) Had no expectations – especially with 70 transfers for the first game – but didn’t think it would be a blow out.
2) It appears the coaches picked the wrong starting quarterback. Even the long pass on the first scoring drive was wobbly. Max Johnson, who looked poised and had a good, confident zip on the ball, should be the starter next week.
3) The Pick 6, a really bad decision to throw that pass, was really big. Down 20-7 at the half is much worse than 13-7.
4) The 75-yard TD run on the opening drive of the 2nd half took everything out of the defense, who did precious little the rest of the game.
5) The first drive was impressive. That sequence of plays was obviously planned out in advance. Maybe they should come up with multiple sequences of plays that can be used throughout the game.
6) The officiating didn’t affect which team won but it may have been closer if not for bad calls against UNC – the bad pass interference call and the blowing of the whistle before Lopez escaped. The closest official was letting the play go on. Replays also overturned two plays that originally went against the Heels.
7) The TCU team feeling disrespected is BS. They were favored after all. As for the attention UNC got, what did they expect when one of the greatest pro coaches of all time starts coaching college?
8) TCU is a better team than Carolina and they have a quality QB and players who have played together. They should finish the season ranked.
9) Carolina will get much better and have a winning record. I’d hate to be Charlotte.
10) Fans should never leave early. If you’re not going to stay until the end, give or sell your tickets to somebody who will.
