Compared to the previous two seasons, Wheatmore took a rather large step back in 2019 by only winning a total of four games and missing the N.C. High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 2A state playoffs. Between 2017 and 2018, the Warriors won 21 games and finished top three in the PAC 7 2A Conference regular season standings.
