North Carolina is turning to former Georgia Tech and Temple head coach Geoff Collins to improve its defense. The Tar Heels announced Friday that Collins would be the new defensive coordinator, replacing Gene Chizik after his two-year stint. University of North Carolina junior centerfielder Vance Honeycutt was named preseason Third-Team All-America by Perfect Game, the organization announced Thursday. As a sophomore, Honeycutt became the first Tar Heel to win the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award since it was established in 2017 and was a third-team all-conference selection.
