Pyotr Kochetkov made 35 saves, and the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins for their eighth straigh win, 5-1 at Lenovo Center on Thursday. The National Hockey League today announced that Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas has been named the NHL’s “Second Star” for the week ending Nov. 3. Former Hurricanes Goaltender To Be Inducted Into AHL Hall Of Fame

Canes first NC home To Get New Professional Hockey Team
The ECHL announced on Friday that the newest expansion team will be coming to the heart of the hockey world: North Carolina. Already home to an NHL team (Carolina Hurricanes) and AHL team (Charlotte Checkers), the state will now be adding the ECHL back to its professional repertoire with the league’s 30th team in Greensboro, which served as the Carolina Hurricanes home their first year in North Carolina.
