The roar startled the fans who were simply trying to walk through the concourse behind section 116. It was the top of the fifth inning in Friday’s 3-2 Carolina win over Virginia at the College World Series. The shaded concourse in the area behind home plate was packed, because it was a sweltering 90 degrees that felt more like 95.
