Beer, wine to be sold at Dean Smith Center
Dean Smith would not be happy. He long opposed alcohol sales and commercials aimed at college sports. The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill announced Thursday that beer and wine will be sold at the school’s two basketball venues this season. Sales at the Smith Center will start with the men’s season opener against Elon on Nov. 4, while sales at Carmichael Arena, where the women play their home games, will begin later in the month. Martin Necas had four points for the Carolina Hurricanes in an 8-2 win against the Boston Bruins at Lenovo Center on Thursday.
