Last season, Wheatmore nearly earned a trip to Fayetteville State University to play for the 2A volleyball state championship. The Warriors were defeated on their home floor by Ayden-Grifton in four sets (19-25, 27-25, 25-15, and 25-15) during the eastern regional final.
