The Carolina Hurricanes were soundly beaten 5-1 by the Vegas Golden Knights as they lost for the fifth time in their last seven games. This game was essentially over early as Vegas scored three goals on their first eight shots covering just 13 minutes. Jaccob Slavin made it 3-1 with a late-first-period power play goal but that was the only response Carolina would have. Goaltender Scott Darling was pulled after the third goal for Cam Ward who stopped 23 of 25 shots in relief. The Canes are now 21-18-8 as they head on the road to Pittsburgh and Montreal for games Tuesday and Thursday prior to the All-Star break. …read more
