Sklar helps Duke stretch win streak to nine

Duke sophomore outside hitter Emily Sklar has won volleyball ACC Player of the Week.

Sklar guided Duke to wins over Notre Dame and Wake Forest, helping the Blue Devils extend their current winning streak to nine matches – the team’s longest since 2007. She totaled a team-high 35 kills and hit .380 over the two matches, averaging 5.00 kills per set.

Wednesday at Notre Dame, Sklar totaled a season-high 18 kills, hitting .343, while adding six digs and three blocks. She followed that performance with a match-high 17 kills against Wake Forest, her seventh-straight match with double-digit kills. Sklar committed just two attack errors versus the Demon Deacons, good for a .417 hitting percentage. For the season, she leads all Duke players with 178 kills, averaging nearly four kills per set.
