Twenty ACC games. Who among us can truly grasp the impact of that much conference warfare? In the ’70s, ACC teams settled the argument in the regular season with just 12 league contests. Expansion dictated a gradual increase to 14 games in the ’80s and 16 games in the ’90s. Sixteen remained the standard until 2013 when the ACC moved to an 18-game schedule. Now for the second time in this decade, we will see two additional conference games. No team has ever captured the ACC regular season title with more than five losses.
