Wakefield takes first WCPSS flag football championship with win over Apex
The Wakefield Wolverines are the first champions of the Wake County Public School System’s girls flag football league. The Wolverines dominated Apex by a score of 31-19 in the title game. Wake County Schools’ first flag football championship is set. The tournament will continue on Saturday at Athens Drive High School. Each region is down to two teams in its winners’ bracket. With help from the Panthers, Wake Schools launches inaugural girls flag football season
Thanks in part to a $50,000 grant from the Carolina Panthers, Wake County Schools will operate a girls flag football league this winter, opening the door for female athletes in the district to participate in competitive football.
