Duke University inducted nine new members into its Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday evening at a ceremony at the Washington Duke Inn. The Class of 2024 features two National Player of the Year honorees, Matt Danowski and JJ Redick; Olympic medalist Abby Johnston McGrath; NCAA champions Anna Grzebien Vanderlinde and Becca Ward; and standout athletes Monique Currie, Quinton McCracken, and Chris Port, along with three-time national champion coach John Danowski. UNC men’s basketball cruises past Johnson C. Smith by 64 points in exhibition
Ninth-ranked North Carolina had seven double-digit scorers and cruised to an easy, 127-63 exhibition win over Johnson C. Smith on Sunday afternoon in the Smith Center. The Tar Heels shot 61 percent in the first half, closing the period on a crushing, 34-11 run after the Golden Bulls pulled within a bucket at 25-23 at the 8:53 mark. Former Hurricanes Goaltender To Be Inducted Into AHL Hall Of Fame
Goaltender Michael Leighton has been named to the 2025 AHL Hall of Fame class. Leighton, 43, was drafted in 1999 and ended up spending parts of four seasons within the Hurricanes organization from 2007-2010 and then again in 2016-17. Please click here for more.
